For seconded employees a period spent abroad offers them an opportunity for career develop-
ment and personal advancement. Besides leaving their professional and private environment be-
hind, they will be faced with a different culture, depending on the country involved. The distance
from friends and family, cultural differences and becoming accustomed to speaking a foreign
language to communicate may well at first present them with a challenge. The resulting experi-
ences and learning processes will however aid expats in acquiring key qualifications for their
future careers. This also includes improving their knowledge of foreign languages. As professional
secondment at Böllhoff involves living abroad for lengthy periods, this additionally brings staff
manifold insights into the country of assignment and its culture.

As a Project Coordinator I deal with numerous issues
on a daily basis. Functioning as an interface between
Melody Sun the sites in Germany and China, I simultaneously
support intercultural cooperation. This exciting task
helps me to expand my own horizons and extend my

knowledge.

Home country Working in Germany is not as fast as in China, but
